This year marks Graybar Canada/Harris and Roome’s one-hundredth anniversary. Founded in 1920 by J. Arthur Harris and R.E.G. Roome, the original Lower Water Street location in Halifax, NS, sold guns, radios, canoes and electrical supplies. In 1963, Mr. Harris and Mr. Roome sold their business to H.C. (Kip) Roberts and A. MacDonald. By 1983, Harris and Roome grew to 12 locations after the acquisition of GESCAN (Atlantic) and went on to open another six branches in Atlantic Canada.
In the year 2000, the brands of Harris and Roome (Atlantic) and Graybar Electric came together to form one company – Graybar Canada. While maintaining the same customer-first mentality and community focus, Graybar Canada has become one of Canada’s leading electrical distributors.
Graybar Canada is proud to continue to serve communities across Atlantic Canada. We never could have made it this far without the help of countless people along the way. We owe our longevity to our loyal customers, employees and supplier partners, as well as the communities we continue to serve today.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of the journey.
